	9	*Yosi Gelfand (CfA)*	Bursts and Bubbles -- Energetic Outflows from Young Neutron Stars Neutron stars offer a powerful probe into the explosion mechanism behind core-collapse stars as well as the behavior of matter at densities and in the presence of magnetic fields much higher than can be achieved in the lab. Outflows from neutron stars offer a way of learning about these processes, and in this talk I discuss what can be learned by observing both the transient ouflows produced after magnetar giant flares as well as the quiescent outflows from neutron stars.

	16	*Saskia Hekker (Leiden)*	Radial velocity observations at Lick: Science at different time scales In 1999 a radial velocity survey of 180 red giants started at Lick observatory, using the Coude Auxiliary Telescope (CAT) in conjunction with the Hamilton echelle spectrograph. The main goal at the time was to measure the intrinsic variability of these stars and identify reference stars for the SIM space mission. The still ongoing survey reveals 'stable' stars usefull as reference stars, but also stars with random and sinusoidal variations. Results of this survey will be presented. With observations obtained every month this survey is not sensitive to solar-like oscillations. These are oscillations excited by turbulence fluctuations in the outer atmosphere of a star and have periods of order minutes in main sequence stars up to hours in giants. In January 2007 a world wide campaign to observe these oscillations in Procyon, a bright F5 subgiant, has been performed. We contributed with a forthnight of observations at Lick during which we solemnly observed this star. The science case and first results will be presented.
