Migrating Mac Mail (OS 10.4 Tiger) to CalMail
Assuming that you already use Mac Mail,
configuring it to use CalMail simply entails adding a new account in Mac Mail. To set up Mac Mail for the first time, please see these instructions.
You must have an existing CalMail account before you can link it to Mac Mail. To create a CalMail account, please see
these instructions. If you are using Mac OS 10.5 (Leopard), please see these instructions.
Open Mac Mail
Click on the Mac Mail icon in your Dock or navigate to Applications in the Finder and double click on the Mail icon.
Select File>Add Account...
With Mac Mail active, select Add Account from the topmost File menu.
Enter Account Information
- Account Type: IMAP
- Description: CalMail
- Enter your Full Name
- Enter your return e-mail address
- Click "Continue"
Enter Incoming Server Info
- Incoming server: calmail.berkeley.edu
- User Name: Your CalMail username
- Enter your CalMail Password
- Click "Continue"
Select SSL
- Check "Use SSL"
- Authentication: Password
- Click "Continue"
Enter Outgoing Server Info
- Outgoing server: calmail.berkeley.edu
- Check "Use Authentication"
- User Name: Your CalMail username
- Enter your CalMail Password
- Click "Continue"
Select SSL
- Check "Use SSL"
- Authentication: Password
- Click "Continue"
Verify Info
- Verify that SSL is on for both incoming and outgoing servers
- Click "Done"
Open Mail Preferences
Select Preferences... from the File menu.
Select CalMail Account
Click the Accounts icon and select CalMail on the left.
Open SMTP Settings
- Click the "Account Information" tab
- At bottom, click on SMTP Server Settings
Set SMTP Server Port
- Server Port: 465
- Click "Okay"
