Prior to the official formation of the TAC, Berkeley hosted a number of prize theoretical astrophysics postdocs, including: Mitch Begelman, Richard (Dick) Bond, George Efstathiou, Carlos Frenk, David Hollenbach, George Lake, Chris Marinoni, Ralph Pudritz, and Simon White.

We have also hosted a number of theoretical astrophysics postdocs via the Miller Institute (Ed Bertschinger, Phil Chang, Claude-Andre Faucher-Giguere, Eric Ford, Phil Hopkins, Guinevere Kauffmann, Eyal Maoz, Andrew Melatos, Colin Norman, Ted Scharleman, David Weinberg), the Hubble Fellowship (Todd Thompson, Qingjuan Yu, Niccolo Bucciantini, Joe Hennawi, Nikhil Padmanabhan, Dusan Keres, Beth Reid, Matt McQuinn, Robert Feldmann), and the Einstein Fellowship (Anatoly Spitkovsky, Taotao Fang, Ian Parrish, Prateek Sharma, Matt McQuinn, Matt Kistler, Ryan O'Leary, Phil Hopkins, Ken Shen, Ann-Marie Madigan).
