Ionization of Metals in Low Mass Minihalos
Orly Gnat (Tel Aviv ) - Sept. 15 at 12:00 noon
I will present computations of the photoionization properties of gas clouds
in dark-matter minihalos. I will discuss minihalo models with virial masses
appropriate for the compact high-velocity cloud (HVC) to dwarf galaxy mass
range, and compare their ionization properties with those of the ionized
HVCs observed toward Mrk509 and PKS2155-304.
I will present preliminary computations of non-equilibrium ionization in
conductive interfaces, and their applications to the HVCs. Finally, I will
examine a high-redshift minihalo model, and compare its predictions
with observations of damped Lyman alpha systems.
The seminar will be held in 544 Campbell Hall.
