Nick Gnedin (U Colorado) - February 4 at 12:00 noon
Cosmological reionization - the process of ionization of the bulk of cosmic
gas by ultra-violet radiation from primeval galaxies - is by far the most
dramatic event that has occurred in the universe since the formation of the
first star. I will overview recent observational and theoretical progress
(and regress) in our understanding of reionization, and will discuss the
opportunities for Radio Astronomers to earn another Nobel Prize.
The seminar will be held in 501 Campbell Hall.
