KAIT Highlights:
- KAIT has provided supporting observations for the Hubble Space
Telescope
STIS
(Space Telescope Infrared Spectrograph) team. The STIS
team will
take spectra of a lensed QSO in order to measure the
absorption due to hydrogen and deuterium in an intervening galaxy.

- KAIT has searched for the optical counterpars of the gamma-ray
burst GRB 970828 (see IAUC for GRB 970828 ). -- 30/08/97
- KAIT has better pointing accuracy than before because
new RA and DEC encoders are installed. -- 11/01/97
- KAIT has better image quality than before because a new procedure to find
out the best focus is implemented. -- 12/01/97
- KAIT has improved its supernova survey efficiency. 300 images/night
is now typical. In the past 3 months KAIT has found more than 7 supernovae,
all of which have been discovered by other groups earlier than our observations.
The reason for this is our poor weather in winter. See below for more details.

- KAIT confirmed two SNe (SN 1998S and 1998T) of Beijing Astronomical
Supernova Survey. -- 03/06/98
