PGB Data


The matrix of plots below provides a "waterfall", dynamic spectrum display of 1 hour of PGB data from JD 2454075.7 (2006 Nov). Antenna positions are given for rows & columns. Results for X and Y polarizations are side by side. The "auto" data are total power. The ordinate is frequency in GHz. The passband is roughly 130 MHz (about aircraft comm bands) to 210 MHz. Digital TV (VHF Chan 8; z~6.8) is present above 180 MHz. The "cross" data present phases. PGB does no phase tracking, and so one is seeing strong sources pass through the interferometer lobes. The longest baselines have maximum fringe rates of order four minutes. Antenna positions for current PGB array are discussed in memo P006. LST is 18h and so Cygnus A and Cassiopeia A dominate. These waterfall plots are generated in quasi-real time for monitoring PGB status; once per hour after an hour data block is written to disk and the file is closed.
