Arguments and Opinions
Some of the more "interesting", or potentially useful, things I've posted in my internet debating
career and/or classes at Cornell and Berkeley are in this section of the site. Many of these are quite
old now but still for the most part accurate.
Creation, Evolution, and the Age of the Universe
The Age of the Universe (t0) - Web presentation for a Cosmology
class I took here at Berkeley in Fall 2004. Summarizes the astronomical measurements of the age of
the universe.
"Procyon's Science Post" - A summary of the overwhelming amount of
evidence in favor of evolution and for a planet and universe that are billions of years old.
Also contains refutations of some of the most common creationist arguments.
(2/3/2002, updated 2003)
Isotope Table - A list of all isotopes on the periodic table with
half-lives over 1000 years and their relative abundances. Clear and overwhelming evidence for an
old Earth that is almost independent of any assumptions.
Star Formation - Is there evidence that stars can form by natural
processes? (5/5/2002)
The Accelerating Universe - An "article" written for a sophomore astronomy
writing seminar at Cornell on how recent measurements of distant supernova have solved the paradox
of the universe that appears younger than its oldest stars. (10/3/2001)
The Big Bang - Creationists seem to believe that the Big Bang is an ad-hoc
theory with no evidence supporting it, created by evolutionists solely to explain away the need for
a creator. The history reveals quite the opposite: that the Big Bang was rejected by scientists for
a very long time solely because it seemed too religious in nature, and was only accepted when the
evidence for it became so overwhelming that this philosophical objection had to be ignored.
(12/14/2001)
The Essence of Science - Is creationism science? The answer is more
complicated than you might think. (11/29/2000)
Creationist Organizations' Statements of Faith - Some creationist
groups try to portray themselves as legitimate scientific organizations which happen to have concluded
that the Earth is young, but the statements on their websites reveal their true motivations.
Useful links:
Talk.Origins - The definitive site on the creationism/evolution
controversy.
Ned Wright's Age of the Universe
God and Science - A fundamentalist
Christian firmly refutes Young Earth Creationism. (Yes, you read that right.)

Miscellaneous Philosophy
Apocalypse Early - How might the human race be wiped from existence?
Hopefully more things, eventually. These are harder to find in my archive of this stuff.
Politics
Maybe something, someday. To tell the truth I've always stayed away from political arguments; they get
too heated too quickly. Of course, on a website like this, there's nobody to offer an opposing opinion,
so I can say as much as I want! So hopefully I'll put something here before too long.
