"Multi-conjugate Adaptive Optics: first results on the sky" Herve Bouy, UC Berkeley The first astronomical MCAO instrument has recently been brought up on the sky at the Very Large Telecope in Chile and successfully performed three observing runs, providing high spatial resolution over an unprecedented wide field (1'x1'). I will briefly present the performances and results obtained with this prototype instrument, and discuss them in the context for future astronomical instrumentation.
