PLOTTING IN IDL and PRINCIPLES OF IMAGING AND PROJECTIONS HANDOUTS by myself Tim Robishaw

The first two tutorials are not IDL specific and discuss (1) general principles of image display (repesenting not just one but also 2 and 3 quantities simultaneously on the same image) and (2) projection of the sky onto a flat piece of paper.

The next two discuss plotting and image display. They are oriented towards IDL but also contain much general information that is not IDL specific.

The fifth, TRDIDL, is IDL specific and tells how to use Tim Robishaw's wonderful display procedure.

The last two tutorials are IDL specific. They discuss lower-level IDL software for those who have specific need for such flexibility.

trdisplay.ps, trdisplay.pdf ``TRDIDL: IMAGE DISPLAY, ANNOTATION, AND EXAMINATION WITH TIM ROBISHAW'S display.pro AND RELATED PROCEDURES". This is a great program. If you use IDL, you should use this!
makeps.ps makeps.pdf PSIDL---POSTSCRIPT FILES IN IDL---BEYOND THE BASICS--- The basic aspects of this older tutorial are superseded by IDIDL above. However, PSIDL also contains additional details for the rare bird who wants some detailed information on fonts and character representation in IDL.
annotated_images.ps annotated_images.pdf IACIDL---IMAGE ANNOTATION AND COLORARS IN IDL---DETAILS SOMEWHAT BEYOND THE BASICS--- This is an older tutorial, now superseded by IDIDL above; it has some info that might be useful in some cases.
