AMATEUR ASTRONOMERS OBSERVE JUPITER'S RED SPOTS

Amateur astronomer Christopher Go announced in March 2006 that Jupiter's White Oval BA had turned red. This oval had formed between 1998 and 2000 from a merger of three white spots, prominent features during the Voyager flybys in 1979 and 1980. The new red spot is about the size of Earth, and the Great Red Spot is nearly twice that diameter. Go and colleagues observe the new red Oval BA regularly, and report their observations on a website:
