I used to teach Introduction to IDL Computer Programming. If you're looking for the class material, just follow the link.
I started teaching at the University of Missouri-Rolla where I worked
for Dr. Ron Bieniek in the Physics
Learning Center (PLC). It was in the PLC where I discovered how much
I enjoyed explaining things to people and interacting with students. It's
also where I developed much of my current methodology and teaching style.
My love of teaching lead me to the Berkeley Astronomy Department where there is a strong emphasis
placed on the quality of instruction and teaching innovation is encouraged.
I began teaching as a GSI (TA) in the Fall of 2000 and in the Fall of 2001
I started The Astronomy
Learning Center (TALC). TALC is based on Dr. Bieniek's PLC and has
become very popular among UC Berkeley Astronomy students.
For developing TALC and my work as Head GSI for Astro 10, I was honored to receive the 2002 Outstanding GSI Award as well as the Teaching Effective
ness Award (TEA). Here is the essay I wrote for the TEA.
Individualized Assistance Through Collaborative Learning
Successful model for cooperative student learning centers in physics and astronomy
