Job Duties: Provide system administration and technical direction for the
Astronomy Department computer facility with 200 users and 140 Sun
workstations and servers running Solaris OS. Identify and install necessary
hardware/software. Perform security audits, patch installation, and incident
recovery. Install and maintain layered software; provide solutions to users'
questions/problems. Interface with Sun and HP hardware support and with UCB
network group. Maintain disk backups using Networker software. Develop
annual budget for computer recharge account. Maintain accounting software
and generate monthly user reports. Supervise an Assistant Systems
Administrator (Programmer/Analyst III).
