The Suicidal Nature of the First Stars

Since one of the two main roles of primordial stars was to populate the universe with heavy elements, this graph is useful in visualizing what mass fraction of the star is lost by the stellar death. A PISN will generate the most mass loss. Massive stars also generate prodigous stellar winds and so lose a large fraction of their mass before their ultimate end.
