Biography:
Professor Beckwith is a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences. He has served as Director of the Max-Planck-Institut für Astronomie and as Director of the Space Telescope Science Institute. He is currently Vice President for Research and Graduate Studies for the University of California system.
