Abstract

This May the Fourth, we recognize that the best use of Astronomy is to answers questions about STAR WARS. Questions like: What are your odds of successfully navigating an asteroid field? What's the wattage of a planet-destroying laser? Why do you need hyperspace to escape the clutches of the Empire? Where's the best place in the galaxy to recreate Luke's famous twin sun scene? And more… 

Speaker Bio

Chelsea Harris is a Ph.D. student in the Astrophysics Department at UC Berkeley and a Department of Energy Computational Science Graduate Fellow. She holds a B.S. in Physics from UC Santa Barbara. Her doctoral research is creating computational simulations of supernova ejecta impacting material in its local environs to constrain supernova progenitor scenarios.
