Sixth-year PhD candidate working with Peter Nugent (co-advised by Jessica Lu)

Biography

I am a sixth-year PhD candidate in the astronomy department here at Berkeley. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physics and a Master’s degree in Computer Science from Washington University in St. Louis. My undergraduate research experience includes quantum physics, radio pulsar research, and particle physics, and I have performed graduate research involving gamma-ray detectors, adaptive optics / instrumentation, transient research, and galactic astronomy. I am currently working with Dr. Peter Nugent to train a machine learning classifier to identify lensed galaxies in the DESI Legacy Survey, and on a separate project involving a computationally intensive method of photometry called Scene Modeling. Outside of work, I like to read, knit, and hike trails around Berkeley and SF.
